An online meeting was held between the University of Missouri in Columbia,
USA and the relevant OshSU officials. The meeting was attended by
Vice-Rector for International Programs, Director of the International
Center, Professor Mary Stegmaier and her assistant Lily, as well as
Director of the Department of International Relations of Osh State
University A.O. Abduvaliev, deans of the Faculties of World Languages an
culture, International Medicine, International Relations, Head of the
Department of Academic Mobility S.M. Amiraliev, teachers and students. The
purpose of the meeting was to discuss cooperation and familiarize with the
possibilities of the Intensive English Language Center and scholarship
programs of the University of Missouri.
At the beginning of the meeting, Director Abdygany Osmonovich briefly spoke
about the history of the university and its international relations, noting
that the department is actively working to establish cooperation with
European and American universities.
Miss Mary gave a presentation about her university and said:
- The university was founded in 1839.
- About 30,000 students from all over the USA study 270 specialties. Among
them are 14,400 international students.
- 2129 teachers work at 11 faculties.
- Ranked among the top ten universities in the USA for research.
- There were Nobel laureates among its graduates.
- There are great advantages for students who write projects and conduct
research.
- The university includes several colleges (art, business, food,
architecture, etc.), schools (law, medicine, journalism, engineering, etc.)
She also said that she would visit Central Asia and make every effort to
increase the number of Kyrgyz students in Missouri. Lily provided detailed
information about the English Language Center, noting that students wishing
to study English have the opportunity to study in the USA from 1 semester

The meeting was accompanied by questions and answers. It was headed by
Sabyrkul Shamsitdinovna, former dean of the Faculty of World Languages and
Cultures, a Fulbright participant.
The University of Missouri and OshSU signed a memorandum of cooperation on
January 13 this year.
